Inherited eye diseases have a tremendous impact on the daily lives of patients and their loved ones. These conditions tend to be passed down by parents to their children, adding to the burden within families. These diseases have long been untreatable and hard to diagnose on a molecular level. Currently however, we are able to provide more and more families with a definitive cause for their condition and in some cases even treat them. These successes are the result of decades of research by groups like ours, aiming to understand the molecular biology and genetics behind conditions such as RPE-related inherited retinal dystrophy, North Carolina Macular Dystrophy, Stargardt disease, and other conditions. 

Funding our research helps us acquire the resources needed to understand these diseases better, thereby helping more families get clarity on the reason behind their vision impairment. The insight we develop today, might lead to new therapeutic options for patients in the future.
